First Baptist Church is a fellowship of believers that purpose to know God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to equip believers through discipleship. Showing God's love, we strive to reach a hungry world with Jesus Christ through obedience to Him.

The emphasis of our ministry is to see consistent spiritual growth in our people by the effective preaching and teaching of God’s Word; to promote love and fellowship through personal example; and to offer areas of service through multiple ministries.

First Baptist Church of Petersburg, WV is a member of the American Baptist Convention. Our church adopts the traditional Baptist doctrines as set forth in the New Hampshire Confession of Faith of 1833. The purpose of our church is based on the Great Commission outlined in Matthew 28:16-20.
